Arunachal: No trace of petroleum pump cashier abducted by suspected militant

Guwahati: Police have failed to trace the whereabouts of Dinesh Sharma, who has been abducted by suspected militant from the fuel outlet at Momong village under Chowkham police station in Arunachal Pradesh Namsai district on Wednesday evening.

Sharma has been working as cashier in the fuel outlet.

According to reports, the suspected militants also opened fire during the abduction critically injuring Mithai Marandi (28 ), the driver of the owner of the fuel outlet.

Namsai SP D.W. Thungon said that despite a massive search operation launched by the Arunachal Pradesh police in association with security forces there is no trace of the abducted person.

The fuel outlet is owned by Zenia Namchoom, the Zila Parishad Member of Chowkham and a influential politician cum businessman.

Police said the driver has been referred to Dibrugarh for better treatment.

Although, there is no confirmation on the group and motive of the abduction sources said extortion might be the reason behind the whole episode.

Sources said extortion and abduction is a common practice in Arunachal Pradesh. Most of the times the militant outfit abduct the businessmen to extort money from him.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a massive man-hunt in easter Arunachal Pradesh against the militant outfit which are mostly active in the TLC region.
